Once upon a time I was uncomfortable living in my body…clever advertising persuades us that we need to look and be different than we are…I starved myself to a painfully thin state. WHAT IF instead we chose to explore who we are, the body we have…do we really want or need to look like or be like anyone else?
I spent too many years filling roles valued by well-meaning loved ones. I had no sense of personal direction in my life, save for two very important roles of wife and mother. But who was Paula, and what was she here to do? Like everyone around me I was seeking depth and a sense of purpose. I’d received a college education, read many self-help books but no one else, no matter how well-meaning or brilliant they were, could show or tell me who I was or why I mattered.
Reiki practice has given me this insight and so much more. My Reiki hands are there for me 24 hours a day; success and fulfillment came over time as I practiced faithfully. Reiki practice itself is the best teacher, showing us what we are made of and what our gifts are. Eventually we get to a point where we don’t want to be like anyone else. We yearn to, thirst to be ourselves!
Day by day, my life and world view expand. There is no need to release one gift to embrace a new one; I love melding them together. I combined Reiki with massage which led to hands-on healing and from there the honor of teaching and mentoring Reiki. Through the years of practice, Life Balance mentoring made its way into my bag of gifts. The beauty is I see, feel, experience and express these gifts individually or as a group. Each one is treasured and has become an integral part of me.
The beauty of Reiki practice is that it supports anyone’s life.
